The City of Alto is an incorporated community that is at the junction of U.S.
Highway 69 and State Highways 21 and 249, along with Farm Roads 752 and 1911.
Alto is located 11 miles south of Rusk, Texas in southern Cherokee County.
With a population of nearly 1,200, Alto is rich in its heritage dating back to
the Caddo Indian.
